There were shops, bars and restaurants. We ate at a restaurant called....get this....Hogs Breathe Cafe Saloon & Grill. And here's a picture of the menu. What a hoot! There are rednecks here!!!!
At restaurants in Singapore you have to signal for a waiter to come and bring you a menu, take your order, or bring you your bill. It's the strangest thing. So tonight I was shocked that not only were we greeted when we walked up to the restaurant to look at the human sized menu (yes, it was a sign at least six feet tall and 2 feet wide), but we were escorted to a seat in the courtyard and taken care of amazingly. We actually had two service people, Mak and Wayne and they took turns tending to us. First they took our drink order, came back with that and then took our order, promptly brought our order, removed our dirty dishes the minute they were dirty, and yet didn't interrupt our conversation at all...it was almost as if they were invisible. We did ask for our bill, but the moment we asked for it, he had it in his pocket and handed it to us. I had forgotten how much I missed "American" hospitality at a restaurant until I didn't have it for so long and then received it tonight. And get this...at the end of our night they asked if we would be willing to fill out a comment card on the service we were provided. They were so grateful that we took the time to fill it out. Amazing.
