Last night I took a train to the outer edge of Singapore, near the airport. Then I took a shuttle bus to an area a ways away from the train station to shop (it's impossible to know how far....I'm not driving and I don't really have any concept of where or how far I'm going). There are three HUGE stores there....Giant (much like a Walmart), Cort (not sure what this is because I ran out of time to go there last night) and IKEA (a really big one!)...anyway, they aren't really called "The Big Three", but that's the name I've given them. I mean, all shopping in Singapore, and boy is there shopping, is in smaller shops, all close together...and "The Big Three" were three stand alone stores on a really big area of ground. It was something you wouldn't normally see in Singapore.
This sign was in IKEA. I've been to quite a few IKEA's and I've never seen a "prayer room" sign.
Okay, this is a little strange, but here's a picture of an "eastern" toilet in Singapore. So, I guess you just "squat" over it...kinda like camping! I did NOT try this. Thankfully there are very normal "western" toilets everywhere I've been!!!
And this sign was in GIANT...it was too funny when I saw it, I hope you can find humor in the wording also.
A "travellator" is an escalator that the stairs never produce...so an escalator that is flat. And there are signs all over Singapore telling you what "direction" things are going: upwards or downwards. Interesting!
And today at lunch I ran to Burger King (yep, it's in Singapore...hallelujah!) and I took the underground passageway, but took a left when I should have gone right to go outside. When I got outside, however, I found the "hawker" site, which is an outdoors food area, kind of like the food court at the mall. They have only Asian food, so I took the picture and then headed my way to Burger King for a cheeseburger!
