I noticed another great thing they do here in Singapore. When the escalator is not in use it moves very, very slow and then it has some sensor in it that the minute someone steps onto it, it speeds up. I think this is very energy efficient, and I see a lot of things around here that are that way. I've never seen this happen in the States.
Tomorrow marks three weeks since I arrived in Singapore! Wow!!! Well, I've been using all kinds of excuses for not working out such as trying to get adapted, it's hot, I'm swimming so isn't that enough...the truth is those are all excuses to keep me out of the gym. Tonight I decided I needed to break that bondage and I headed to the gym. It's small, but has very nice equipment. I did some time on the elliptical machine and found out all the walking in Singapore I do did NOT prepare me for this! Oh my....I'm exhausted. But, I'm also proud for not sitting on the couch and going to the gym. Let's hope for another day of motivation tomorrow!
My small group, fondly named the "Love Shack", emailed me this week and gave me a great verse to claim to while I'm here....Phil 4:4-7...be anxious about nothing....ahhhh, yes!!!!!!! Thanks you guys! I love you all!!!
Earlier this week I purchased a box of frozen TYSON chicken (ah, a name from home). I made it last night and I gotta tell you....chicken tastes very different in Singapore. I'm sure it's because the chicken we get here is probably not fed the same way good old Iowa farm chickens are, but whatever it is, I really don't prefer it much....but I'll eat it anyway (wow, amazing that came out of my mouth).
Tomorrow is Debra's (a trader in our office) birthday and we are having pizza. Should be interesting to find out if pizza in Singapore is the same as pizza in the states. My bet...not even close!
