Friday night after work I went to find this Indian Craft Show I read about. It was at the Suntec Convention Center. It's a HUGE place!!! There were all kinds of things going on there and when I was on the way to the Indian Craft Show I saw a sign for a SHOE sale...I had not, up to this point, even tried on a pair of shoes in Singapore! What...can you believe it. Well, the shoes all look incredibly NARROW here and I have a fat foot! But Friday night I was lured into this room and tried on a pair...and ta dah....below is a picture of my first pair of shoes I've purchased in Singapore. Blue...that's a very hard color to find in shoes here for some reason, and I love them!!! Deb Mc...you would not be able to survive here...they mostly have high heels..and all cute and wonderful like those you wear...you'd have to sell the house and buy shoes!
Saturday I stayed home all day to rest, but got a little "restless" in the late afternoon and decided to go for a walk and find this shopping center I've heard about. Here's a beautiful plant I saw along the way...what is it? I have no idea. It was red, black, a little blue and green. It's much prettier than this picture shows!
When I found the shopping center they had a display of all recycled items. It was at the Tree of Life Workshop and was done by handicapped individuals. I was taking a picture of it and this woman INSISTED I be in the picture...I hate to be in pictures, but I agreed..and here it is. This "house" you see is made of all recycled things. The lamps are all made from water bottles...some in their original form and some cut into pieces. It was very cool.
And, this was the most unique Christmas decoration I've seen so far....Snowmen made out of tires!!!! I could not resist!
When I went into the shopping center I was amazed at the names of some of the stores...Fat Face...really, in Iowa that would never fly! It was a clothing store!
And here's one for the books...It was a clothing store and only had about 20 items in it, so it probably was very expensive...I would guess maybe it was a "petite" size clothing store???? No idea!!!
I was telling Kaizhi at work that I love purses and had bought a few here. Then I got a lesson in our language differences...
A purse in Singapore is a what we call a wallet in the U.S.
A bag in Singpore is what we call a purse in the U.S.
So, I was telling her how much I like purses (wallets in Singapore) and how I got rid of a bunch of purses before I came here in hopes of purchasing more!!! She said the Chinese have a saying for that: If the old ones don’t go, the new one’s won’t come.
So, I'm so glad my "old ones went" while I was in the U.S. so "new ones came come" while I'm in Singapore!!!
Taking that into mind...before I left the US I got rid of my purses before I came to Singapore so I could get new ones.

I also learned that in Singapore dinner is what you eat right after work and supper is what you get when you go out later in the evening (8 or 9 pm) with your friends!
