A movie in Singapore...an experience

I decided to go to a movie tonight. I found my way to the theatre...just two shorts blocks away (ah, that's heaven!) and then the trouble began. The theatre is in a mall setting, and there are theatre's on four floors, so how does one find the place to purchase a movie ticket? I finally found the concession stand and there was a sign that you could buy tickets there. I waited my turn in line and then asked the concession worker how I knew what was playing. She pointed to the computer screen in front of me. There, in front of me, was a computer monitor screen with movie choices on it. You clicked on the movie and then the seating came up. You then chose your ticket. Yes, you chose your ASSIGNED seat. Odd that. Then if you wanted anything from the concession stand you entered that and the concession worker took your money, then got your food. The most disappointing thing...no Hot Tamales, in fact there are no Hot Tamales in all of Singapore (how will I survive?). Then I had to ask where to find the movie. I was directed two storeys (they don't call them floors, and they spell story funny) down. I made my way to that floor and there was the entrance to the movie theatre. You had to wait until your movie theatre number was flashed on the screen and then you could enter the theatre area. My movie was to start at 7:35, but they didn't even flash our movie theatre number until 7:40....guess the times don't matter here. I entered the very plush movie theatre, all carpeted (which is an odd thing to see in Singapore...my apartment has ZERO carpet). The aisles are digitally marked and the seats are embroidered with the number. I was in E13. That was five rows from the back of the theatre (it started with A, then B, etc) and seat 13 was the end of the aisle. The previews started and they were LOUD!!! Oh my gosh, I couldn't believe how loud it was! I guess people don't come on time to movies as the movie had already started when people started coming in for the row in front of me and some of my row. Odd that. And they talk, loudly, throughout the movie and answer their phones and text message during the movie. When the movie is over, everyone goes forward towards the screen and exits out the side. I had a movie ticket, a small popcorn and a bottle of water for $17.50 SING (about $12.25 US). All in all, it was an adventure!
