RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY!

It's Sunday and it's raining, raining and raining some more. I'm hunkered down in the apartment wrapped in my quilt reading a book.

People are funny though...earlier today I went to the pool to catch some sun. It was a lovely afternoon and then suddenly it started to rain. Some people quickly left the pool area and others of us just opened the umbrellas and sat on our chaise lounges waiting for the rain to stop, but enjoying the sound of the rain. The rain got heavier. I watched people react to the rain. One family stayed in the pool until the thunder started and I heard the Mom say "we better get out in case it starts to lightening." One man just put his book away and turned over and allowed the rain to splash on his body. One family ran to get under the umbrella and then when they decided to go in and quit waiting it out they covered their heads with towels and tried to dodge the rain. Funny...weren't they just in the water...getting wet anyway???? This particular family was right beside me and I realized the father had left his sandals, but since I didn't know them or which apartment was theirs, I left his sandals so hopefully he would retrace his steps and find them. When the wind picked up I decided it was time to call it quits myself. I gathered my stuff and went in the building. There stood the family that the father had left his sandals. I mentioned it to him and he said "yes, I know, my wife has gone to get the umbrella and will get my sandals for me." Funny...he was standing there, soaking wet, in his swim suit, but was going to wait for an umbrella and allow his wife, who had not been in her swim suit and was not wet, go go and get his sandals. People are funny!

And as long as I'm telling you about funny people, I should tell on myself. I'm rather obsessed with finding my time on Saturday and Sunday to be at the pool. I love being in the sun. It is so relaxing to me. Last weekend I got a bit of a burn...apparently I forgot to cover my entire body in sunscreen and so on Sunday last week I decided I didn't need any more sun. By the time this weekend arrived I was really ready for some pool time, but went out and about on Saturday instead and so today was my only pool time. I had about an hour this afternoon before the rain, as I said above. But I really wanted more sun...so when the rain stopped and the sun came out again, off to the pool I went. There was one other person at the pool clearing of the water from the chaise lounge and getting ready to catch some rays. I jumped in the pool and got wet, got all situated on the chaise lounge and had been reading for about 15 minutes when, yep, you guessed it, it started raining again. The other person and I both just put up the umbrella and thought we'd wait it out....again....but the rain didn't stop and I finally gave it up and came back to the apartment. Twice in one day just isn't right!!!! I guess sunshine wasn't in my day! I bet you can guess where I'll be next Saturday!!!
