SATURDAY NIGHT

As I said, I decided to go back to the Esplanade to the free concert. It was called Pesta Raya and was part of the Malay Festival of Arts. Here is their logo.

It was more than music, it was also interpretive dance. Very culturally different from anything I've seen in Iowa. I enjoyed it very much. This is the stage before the concert/dance started. The backdrop is the Marina Bay area.

I had no idea what all the instruments were called (Mr. Mead, you'd know them all cuz you just know stuff). This was an interpretation of a rain dance. Very interesting.

This gentleman with the long pipe thing-a-ma-bob could make amazing sounds come out of that instrument. The men were painted (you could tell they were not real tattoos).

As you can tell, I was really liking this man and his music. Plus he was the most decorated, animated and he also was featured the most.

What a fun night. There were many people there at the outside amphitheatre. I grabbed a cold grape soda before the show and just sat there and enjoyed myself. It was all instrumental except for one song, and that song was not in English. The beat was neat and fun to listen to. I'm so glad I ventured out all by myself and did this!
