Blink and something changes in Singapore...really!!!! Doug was here in December and the last stop of the East West Line of the MRT was Boon Lay. Now there are two more stops... Pioneer and Joo Koon. It's amazing how much everything changes. In almost six months I've seen so many changes and I as I reflect back on Zac's 20 days here I wonder how much of the things we saw may change in the coming days.
Yesterday it rained...well, according to Zac I could say that for the last five or six days of his visit here. Yes, it has rained a bit, but it clears up most days eventually. When we looked out the apartment window yesterday Zac saw this rainbow and of course, I needed a picture of it. It's the first rainbow I've seen in Singapore!!!
We were walking around and saw this statue on a building the other day. I was taking a picture of the building's architecture and Zac said look at the muscles on that statue! Only a body builder would notice that!!! What a hoot.
When we went to Arab street the other day we were walking along having some ice cream from the street vendor (oh, is that important to this story...um, no, but Zac and I did get into a bad habit of having to have ice cream almost everyday and he hadn't had any from the street vendor yet)...anyway, it was INCREDIBLY hot this day. It really needed to rain, which it eventually did, but it was just plain hot. We were walking along and Zac noticed this cat laying under this car in the shade...trying to stay cool. Zac tried to get him to wake up and come to him, but the cat only blinked his eyes at Zac and went back to sleep. An older couple (yep, older than me) came by as we were bent over taking this picture and said something about the cat being the smart one being in the shade. Such a little animal got a lot of attention!
The other day we attempted to go to Tiger Live, but got there too late for the last show. So Wednesday we attempted again. The tour was more about how the company got started and less about how the beer was made. It was a bit disappointing, but at the end you got a glass of beer and the bartender was fun. He let us draw our own beer...I think Zac had had some experience already in this area.
We were walking by this magazine/newspaper stand and Zac was sure he saw the word "threat", so we stood and watched as a number of languages went by and then finally English came again and sure enough there was something about "threat"....darn if I can remember now what it was, but it obviously didn't scare me :)
So, it's Thursday and Zac headed home this morning. Last night we went out to eat at Tony Roma's and had a super dinner and great conversation. We reminisced a bit about what we did while Zac was here and the things he did and saw. It was really fun hearing what he thought. All in all, it was a super duper trip of a lifetime for Zac. I'm so thrilled he got to experience Singapore and understand where I've been living.
I miss him terribly already, but am so THANKFUL for our time together. It was fun having the "adult" Zac come for a visit...that sounds so weird. I love you to pieces Zac!!! Thanks for sharing three weeks of your life with me!!!! I have no idea how 20 days flew by so quickly!
