I had made him this sign...you know, those "limo" drivers stand at airports with a sign with someones name on it that they are suppose to pick up, well, I wanted Zac to feel more special than that, so I made this sign. He said "you are a dork". So this dork made that dork pose for this picture. He's making a "dork" face he said!!!
He was hungry when he got off the plane...I mean, look at him, Mr. Muscle, so we headed to every one's favorite, McDonalds (yes, it was midnight and this was the only place at the airport to get "instant" food).
This morning Zac actually got up before me. I was so surprised. He use to be a kid that would sleep in until at least Noon....I guess, he's growing up!!!
Off we went to the grocery store (first stopping at the new McDonalds by my apartment for some breakfast) to stock the shelves here at "home-sweet-away from home". He was so cute in the grocery store looking at things and saying "that's so expensive" or "that's so cheap compared to the U.S."....it was fun watching his reactions.
Back at home we put the groceries away and got ready for our day out and about. It was funny because Zac was actually waiting on me....that had to a be a first EVER!!!! He said, "Wow, you are usually waiting on me." I told him I have a more laid back lifestyle here. While I was getting ready he was able to talk to Brittany on the phone :)
First stop when we left home was to take a tour of the apartment building and let him see what there was here, then we were off to find him a work out facility. Did you notice all his muscles? He doesn't get those just sitting around! We toured two facilities and ended up picking California Fitness. He couldn't believe how much it cost here, and can't wait to tell Gold's Gym back home (where he works in West Des Moines)!!! But the truth is, it is was totally worth what I paid when I saw him get all excited about the facility, and I knew that he would truly use it every day. In fact, as I write this, he is off working out before we do something tonight!
Here's Zac right outside the California Fitness facility. It is one block from my apartment.
We then needed lunch...so we had Subway. Yep, just like in the U.S. Zac said the funniest thing as we were eating...."the food is good. I haven't been disappointed yet." And then he grinned really big!!! It was so cute. I mean, how could he be disappointed...McDonald's and Subway!!!
We took a double decker bus to show Zac around. At one of the bus stops we saw this sign....I guess they are serious about staying out!!!!
We got off the bus at Vivo City, a great big mall, and I started towards the train and said "we'll go to this mall another day" and he said "I guess it's different here, because if we were at a mall in Iowa, we'd go there now and not come back later." Yep, different...we had things we needed to get to because Zac had some things he wanted to see yet today. Too funny...growing up again, I guess!!!
We rode the train back towards home. It was really funny because I thought he was looking at the people and taking it all in, and so I said "what are you thinking" and he said "I'm looking at all their cool phones." I could not believe it....I thought he was taking in the culture and he was drooling over the phones!!!!!!!!!!
We stopped at Plaza Singapura to buy a locker lock for Zac to use at California Fitness. He really wanted a smoothie, so we stopped and bought one. It was very interesting to watch them make it, then put it in a machine that put a seal on the top instead of a lid. He stuck the straw in and took a drink. I could tell he wasn't really liking it, but it was so cute as he tried it another four or five times. We were getting ready to go into a store and I said he'd have to keep the drink in the bag it came in and I looked at him and said "If you don't like it, you can throw it away". Pure relief came over him...I know he didn't want to waste my money, but he really didn't like this smoothie. It was cute...again, maturity!

We walked home from Plaza Singapura and he knew instantly when we were somewhere we had already been. He's really good with landmarks. We dodged into McDonalds again for him to eat a chicken sandwich! I bet he wasn't disappointed with that food either!
So, right now he's off working out at the gym. He reminded me he needs to eat within one hour and so I should be ready. He's been hungry a lot here....it takes a lot of food to fuel that body!!!!
Oh, it is so nice to have him here. I see so many changes in him...all good. We've had some really great talks already and I'm going to enjoy him being here so much!
