WAS THAT REALLY ONLY ONE DAY????

Sunday...it seemed like it was about 24 days long....we went to the pool to catch some sunshine and after about an hour it started to sprinkle, but we could see from the sky it was really going to pour down rain hard, so we went to the apartment. We lounged around there and waited for the massive amounts of rain to cease. Our "game plan A" for the day had been to go to this area called Arab Street and shop at the shophouses and see some local sights. With all the rain, we had to go to "game plan B". We finally started our day at about 4:30pm!!!!!

Off we went to Vivo City (a mall) to eat at Cedele. We ordered food....Zac ordered vegetable soup. It was more like a puree and looked like runny baby food. Needless to say he didn't really like the soup! While we were eating I looked on the wall to see an advertisement for cakes...here's a picture of one of the cakes...read the words...really????

We then stopped quickly to get some cash at the ATM and then went to the info booth to ask how to get to Tiger Live, a program to show you how Singapore makes their local beer, Tiger. The gentleman at the info booth told us how to get there and we were off...however, his directions didn't make sense. So we asked someone else and they wanted to send us back to the info booth. No, thanks. Anyway, we decided we could find it ourselves when Zac saw a sign for it, so we followed the sign,

through a construction area (yes, everything is under construction here, just like in Iowa) and finally found the entrance to Tiger Live....only to be told we were five minutes too late for the last show! Seriously...five minutes!!!!!!

Let's see, I think we are now at "game plan C" for the day. We decide we will go to Mt Faber and take the cable car across the land and water to the Sentosa Island across the bay. We find the bus stop and waited, and waited, and waited. We see the bus, #409, and um, it passes by the bus stop and doesn't stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We wait, and we wait, and we wait some more. No bus. So, we look at the bus schedule and realize the bus was only going to take us one more stop, which can't be far...right? So we start walking. It's a simple walk. Just past the stop where we know the bus would have taken us we see these stairs and I stop to take a picture (because I like stairs).

But we keep walking on the side walk and looking for signs about the cable car. We go around a curve and see a sign, so we know we are going in the right direction. Still no sign of the bus. We walk, and walk, and walk and suddenly we are going up hill...and lo and behold, there are the top of those stairs that I took a picture of. We had walked at least a mile out of the way because we could have taken the stairs. Oh well, it was good exercise...even if we are hot and sweaty.

We keep walking and looking for signs. Every once in a while we see a sign. It's getting darker now. Hmmm...will we ever find this place? We keep walking and walking and walking. We are basically in a park area and it's dark, with a little light, and many "nature sounds". It's all uphill and we really have no idea if we are ever going to reach the top. I stop to take this picture down the hill, okay, okay, I stopped because I was out of breath from walking up hill in 85 degree weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We see the cable cars going across the sky....we know we are nearing the top finally!!!!

To give you a perspective of how far up the mountain we were....this was at the top of the mountain and I was able to take a picture of it. We were high up!!!

There were some neat things to see along the way...this was a walk way on the way up. The wood was like an awning and had beautiful flowers and plants growing up on top.

Just as we are almost at the top...here comes the bus!!!!
We get to the top, buy tickets and request a glass bottom cable car (it's more expensive, but everyone says you want one!)....we are exhausted and just want to sit down. I try to take this picture just before we get in the cable car, but think I was shaking too much from exhaustion!

We get in the car and as soon as we are off over the land both Zac and I think we are going to throw up. We are both sick to our stomachs and wondering how in the world we are going to survive the trip across land and water. I'm taking very few pictures. We realize the glass bottom cable car doesn't matter because neither of us can look down at this point.

Here is one picture I managed to get without shaking hands.

So, we finally get to Sentosa Island and boy are we glad to be off the cable car. We grab a soda...they had Mt. Dew (hard to find in Singapore) and I downed that one quickly. Zac had a fruit smoothie and we were feeling a bit better now that we were on land.
Right at the top of Sentosa Island they had a ride called Sky Tower. It took you up 50 storeys and then slowly, yes slowly, turned around for you to see Singapore by a 360 degree view. I watched it go once to determine if I could go on it or not after the cable car ride, and decided I thought I could. So off we went. It was really neat and am glad Zac talked me into this one.

It was dark, so taking pictures was difficult. I put my camera on some weird setting and got this picture, which I think is very cool....

Here we are in the Sky Tower...I'm trying to take our picture...we are hot and sweaty, still. But, it was fun anyway!

When the ride was over and I looked out the window of the ride, these words were there...Savour Life....oh yeah, great idea....I know I get going through life and get busy with the "normal, everyday" things and forget to even savour those things. I think I'll print this picture and adopt this as my new saying for life. There is much to savour in the ordinary that we miss because we are always waiting for the great adventure! Well, I'm on a great adventure in Singapore and still feel as though, at times, I've forgotten to savour the trip! So, starting now, I'm going to savour every day! Won't you join me!

Gotta tell you how our evening ended, because you will then understand how it felt like 24 days (if you haven't already felt that along with us from what I wrote above). Zac wanted something to eat other than McDonalds, Burger King, KFC or Subway (can't blame him on that one) so we stopped at this outdoor restaurant right by our apartment. Zac was so excited about a stuffed chicken meal...until it came. I'm not sure what all was wrong with it, but Zac will eat most anything and couldn't eat it. So we paid the bill and I thought we were off to McDonalds. Nope, he was sick to his stomach and we just went home. We got home about 10:00 and we were both so tired we dropped into bed....I think Zac went to bed hungry :(

Monday is here and we are going to try "game plan A" from yesterday! Details later!

Remember...SAVOUR LIFE!!!!
